Tectonic-climatic interactions during changes of depositional environments in the Carpathian foreland: An example from the Neogene of central Poland

Many geological problems have not been convincingly explained so far and are debatable, for instance the origin changes of Neogene depositional environments in central Poland. Therefore, these reconstructed terms global to local tectonic climatic fluctuations. The examined deposits divided into a sub-lignite unit (Koźmin Formation), lignite-bearing (Grey Clays Member), and supra-lignite (Wielkopolska Member). two lithostratigraphic members constitute Poznan Formation. results facies analysis show that Koźmin Formation was deposited by relatively high-gradient well-drained braided rivers. Most likely, they encompassed widespread alluvial plains. In the case Grey Member, type river close proximity which mid-Miocene low-lying mires existed then were transformed first Mid-Miocene Lignite Seam (MPLS-1), has been resolved. obtained confirm formation Wielkopolska Member low-gradient, but mostly well-drained anastomosing or anastomosing-to-meandering evolution examined successions depended on may be closely related mid-Miocene great remodelling Alpine-Carpathian orogen. This resulted palaeogeographic in its foreland form limiting flow wet air water masses from south vertical tectonic movements.
